Bulldog & 21 pups (PHOTOS, VIDEO) – How cute! A mama American Bulldog in Illinois has reportedly had 21 beautiful baby puppies. What started as a simple breeding idea to sell puppies, turned out to be a lot more than they expected. Dog Owner Shari Ballard was simply amazed her American Bulldog named Daisy Mae could have so many children.

If anyone is looking for a companion dog, there are thousands of dogs waiting to be adopted from your local animal control and rescue shelters.

Guess Shari Ballard has never heard of pet overpopulation, dog rescue, MILLIONS of dogs being killed in shelters every year for lack of homes, and Spay/Neuter procedures. Rescuse and save a life, breed and ensure the death of a another life.

Come on people! Maybe everybody doesn’t want a mutt from the pound! A good breeder produces a good quality dog! You don’t go to a mental institution to pick out your child so why complain about breeders!!!!! There are several kids needing adoption but we don’t force their parents to get fixed! Wake up ppl! Puppy mills and breeders that don’t know what they are doing need to stop but if this lady has a market for these bullies…..leave her alone!

5 million dogs a year are put down because they have no homes. Really do you nneed to breed? If you need a pure bred shelters have them.

Excuse me Donna. You can get good quality animals at the pound. 15 years ago in September we purchased a 2 year old Chow Mix. He has been a wonderful dog and has lived a very long time for his size and ,except for the cancer he now has at 17, is in very good health and pretty active for a guy his age too. Neither his groomer or his vet can believe his condition. He is in better condition than a lot of dogs half his age.
To me a long lived, healthy, loving compainion is worth a lot more than a pure bred. Purebreds have a lot more health issues due to interbreeding and don’t live as long either. And if you are concerned about looks, we have always received rave reviews.
from perfect strangers about how beautiful our boy is.
And actually, I think people who have more kids than they can feed on there own, should be fixed. Now I am not talking about people who have unexpectedly found themselves down and out after being responsible tax paying members of our society but those who have never had any sense of responsibility for any of their actions and expect society to bail them out. Which, unfortunately, society has been doing.

The negative comments on this post are typical and without objectivity. I looked for the email that praised this couple for the EXCELLENT care they have given all of these beautiful puppies not to mention the beautiful condition their mother Daisy is in after such a large litter. It is obvious to even someone in the first grade that the owners spared no expense muchless their personal time and labor to insure the puppies had a chance to thrive. I show dogs. I have participated in the love of showing and breeding quality dogs for 25 years. I know what healthy, happy, sucessful litter look like and I heartily applaud Shari and her husband for the sucess they had in raising a huge unexpected litter of new little lives. I have to think God approved to bless them and keep them safe. I hope he watches over the babies and their owners thru the painstaking task of finding new homes as kind and responsible as they are. The owners set an example that is hard to follow. Naysayers should realize that while shelters are full of sweet animals that were raised irresponsibly and yes even total neglect, there are people who want a purebred puppy from a caring breeder that provided nurturing and love. These people to not cause the population problem. They find good homes for their dogs. Its the people who propagate mixed breed litters and the people who do not care about the lives of the puppies they produce that fill shelters. IT IS NOT PEOPLE LIKE SHARI AND HER HUSBAND.
I WISH THIS KIND OF EMAIL COULD BE FORWARDED TO THEM AND SHARED WITH MY HEARTFELT THANKS THAT DOGS HAVE HUMANS WHO LOVE THEM.

21 pups? Wow, that’s really amazing and a lot of work! Good luck with getting much sleep for a few weeks.
As for all of the rabid (pun intended) anti breeders, the legit breeders are not the problem with pet overpopulation. Breeders, and people who purchase animals from them, spend massive amounts of money on their dogs. This normally means that they highly value their animals and don’t allow them to run wild, mating with every stray on the block. Think about it, which dog is likely to be better cared for? The dog who was planned for, reserved months in advance of it’s birth, and purchased for $1500, or the puppy picked up for $50 on a whim from a shelter or from a backyard breeder.
Besides, most of you anti-breeders are probably so stressed about global warming that you’ll be calling for the elimination of all pets in the near future. All those puppies leave an awful big carbon footprint.

Everybody knows all the pros and cons of the dog situation. Why don’t all of you just relax for a min. and put a grin on your face at this beautiful mama and her wonderful owners. Just imagine the pictures. International problems, war, homeless people and animals, H1N1 there are tons of things to worry about and complain about. Take it easy for once and smell the puppies ( and the flowers ) this time. I have never seen an ugly puppy !
