Desmond Hatchett is a 29 year old who lives in Knoxville, Tennessee. He has fathered 20 (possibly 21) children no less than 11 different mothers.
The kids, who are between 11 months and 11 years old, require food, clothing, etc. which doesn’t come cheap. That presents a problem for their minimum-wage earning father.

The only thing I think the state should pay for is to have this so called man fixed. He has no business have anymore babies. And as for the mothers of these children, they too need to take responsibilities for their children.

I find it absolutely DISGUSTING that this story is just a blurb and yet the “octomom” story made national news 100 times over. At least she is doing her best to actually take care of her children!!!

This is horrible. In the US we have FREE birth control but, if you don’t use it you get children. What is wrong with these women? are they stupid? what has this guy got that no other man has? Not only does this guy leave behind children one of these days he is going to leave HIV or some other STD. Castorate this guy and put him in jail. He doesn’t seem to have any respect for himself or anyone else. It seems that he would at least want to protect himself and use a condom. I think all of these people should be recognized as idiots including the octomom. She isn’t doing all that fantastic either. These children should be taken from them and given to good families. Their poor thought process should not be continued, and that includes the mothers who just spread their legs! Do not allow these kids to be taught that this is the way things get done. Give these kids a chance to have a better life. Love from this trash is nothing.

There is no doubt he is an irresponsible sperm donor. But what about the mothers in these situations? Why would anyone these days have unprotected casual sex? Were they on any type of government assistance? If so, why is it the tax payer’s responsibility to continue to pay them more money because of their lack of responsibility. If you are receiving any type of government assistance they should not get more money for every child they have because they keep getting pregnant.
I would rather pay to have someones tubes tied or have a vesectomy then have to pay for their children that they cant take care of themselves. We nueter and spayed our anuimals, maybe it is time we do the same for humans.

If the taxpayers are going to be required to pay for this guys mistakes, let’s offer him sterilzation or castration in order to remain on the outside. If he refuses, place him in jail for delinquit child support. If child support and fear of prison where already an issue, he would have stopped long ago. There are few pregnancies that take place in an all male prison. (Let him have a taste of what he is doing to the taxpayer.) This is a fine example of the decline in morals, and the entitlist attitude that is pervasive in our nation.

Wow I’m dissapionted about all these negative comments. I’m quit sure plenty of man have 20 somthing kids. Atleast he sighned the birth certificates. Sex is ment for making babies. The earth supports life not the welfare system wake up people. If anything, advice should of been given like telling Desmond to go back to school or the military or somthing. This article gives very little information about the women, the man, the children or their lives (for example: whether or not the women knew about eachother, whether they were or thought they were going to be in long term relationships with this guy, whether he slipped something into their drinks, their ages, whether they are they in school or successful in other parts of their lives, whether their children are happy or healthy, etc…), yet I see readers making plenty of assumptions, mostly negative, about their suposed trashiness, lack of morality, irresponsibility, drug-addictions, etc. In other words, I see a lot of socially-acceptable regurgitated criticism about the mothers/father/children and no evidence of or purposeful thought about the actual circumstances of their lives.

He should have figured how to prevent kids after the first one…as far as the women perhaps they should quit speading their legs and figure out how to prevent pregnancy. Sex is for reproduction. It’s pretty obvious that a man with 20+ kids and a minimum wage job is not taking care of his reponsibilities. Maybe the mothers have decent jobs and are able to take care of this man’s children. However, if these women are parasites just like the man, and are living on welfare and just popping out more kids so they can get more money, then something needs to change. It’s disgusting that so many people in this country have decided that it’s easier to just have kids and go on welfare so they don’t have to work, than making a good life for themselves and their familes. I understand that people need help sometimes, but women and their boyfriends, should not benefit from having even more children. This is my solution:
When a woman goes on welfare, she needs to be told that she is expected to stay on birth control and not have any more kids. If she gets pregnant again, she has the choice of having her tubes tied, so there won’t be any more kids, or going off of welfare all together.
For men:
If you are making babies, you pay child support. If you can’t pay the child support, you have a vasectomy so you can’t make any more babies. This should put an end to this problem.

While I agree that these “parents” should be sterilized, I really wish people would recognize that the Right to Life coalition and all their bible thumping extremists who scream that every child has the right to be carried to full term and delivered are the same folks who deny the taxpayers and the courts the right to sterilize people like Hatchett and Octomom. Do you REALLY think he is the first black, white, yellow, or red man to have so many children out of wedlock? Does ANYONE out there remember – or even know the history of Ben Franklin?!? Oh, wait, he was smart, successful and his ‘woman’ kept their mouths shut – that must be the difference…silly me.
If this man gets thrown in jail, which most of you suggested, GUESS WHO’S PAYING to feed, clothe, house and protect him!?!?! He will be locked up, getting 3 great meals a day (prisoners eat better than most elderly residents in a nursing home), have access to state-of-the-art fitness equipment, flat screen television with cable access and lots of time to ‘chill’. WOW. That makes ZERO sense.

I’m as discussed with this story as I am with Octo-mom, Jon & Kate plus 8, 18 and counting, and A table for 12. All America keeps doing is making these people rich. But, this poor guy won’t get any TV time or offers because of his race. And everybody knows it. What’s so different about his story and those who chose In-Vitro and had multiples or ” Table for 12″ they just kept having kids (ALL of them were going to get some type of help from the government – don’t think otherwise). Is he supposed to be bragging, or is he complaining because he is feeling a victim? He should cough up for each and every baby he has made, or spend a real long time in jail for non-payment of child support, where, hopefully he will have a court-ordered vasectomy as part of his release so he won’t get out and make more babies.

The women in the situation should of known what type of man he really was. i dnt feel sorry for the women in this situation because we all have our own choices and we have to live up to it. I just feel sorry for the babies and how messed up their lives will be like. I just hope the all women realize you cant have a baby to keep a man it dont work that way. simply u got to look into yourself and see if that person is worth your time let alone having kids with them
