The former Miss USA 1991 -- that's right, she was a beauty queen -- has quit the mainstream acting business for a shot at a career in "adult entertainment," reports our friends at TMZ.
McCarty played the Beth Wallace on "Passions" for 7 years and now calls herself a "Vivid Entertainment" girl.
In fact, Kelli has just wrapped on her first XXX feature, "Faithless," in which she plays the lead character to a, how should we put it?, extremely supporting cast.
So, what would make her make the radical career move?
"I enjoy acting, and I really like sex," says McCarty, "so this was the perfect opportunity to combine two of my passions. I approached Vivid with the idea of shooting a film with a sexy but interesting storyline, and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of control I was given throughout the production process. I am very pleased with the final edit of 'Faithless,' and I just may do another adult film."
McCarty won the title of Miss Kansas in 1990 and was crowned Miss USA in 1991. She placed fourth in the Miss Universe competition that same year.
She landed the role of Beth Wallace on the NBC daytime drama Passions in 1999 and played the character through 2006.
"Faithless,"her first X-rated DVD release, will be on sale starting February 4, 2009.
