News: Gay Dating Ad Rejected - CBS has given a firm "No" to a commercial by ManCrunch.com, a gay dating site. The commercial would have run during the Super Bowl.
CBS has reviewed the commercial and the company, the $3 million spot for commercial will not be allowed to air on their network.
According to reports, CBS Standards and Practices said that the ad was "concluded that the creative is not within the Network's Broadcast Standards for Super Bowl Sunday."
Not only that, but they were not able to get the company's credit status which is a big "no-no" for most networks.
The spokesman for ManCrunch.com said "It's disappointing. We perceived the spot to be quite harmless. We just think this is just another result of the discrimination that is part of Super Bowl advertising."
The website only launched in January, 2010 and since then there have been thousands of gay men joining the site. CBS claims they are no dumb duck, they believe this site is vying for publicity to spread the word of their website. CBS stated that the site knew they'd be rejected but did it anyways to blame it on discrimination reasons.
CBS also claimed that commercial was of low quality. Mancrunch spent $100,000 to create the commercial which you can view below. The Spokesman of ManCrunch has denied that this was a publicity stunt but wanted to branch out to the millions of men who watch the Super Bowl. (c) tPC
