'Obese' Contestant Hospitalized: LaRhonda Darby Prescription Water Pill Reaction
by Toshiba Reynolds

Obese contestant hospitalized! LaRhonda Darby, one of eight morbidly obese contestants participating in 'Obese' ABC 2011 series, has been hospitalized as a result of a bad reaction to a prescription water pill, reports TMZ.

Darby was rushed to a local Oklahoma City hospital Saturday complaining of lightheadedness and leg cramps.

Spokespersons at 3Ball productions issued a statement on their dehydrated 'Obese' contestant, saying the diuretic was "prescribed for reasons unrelated to her weight loss" -- and that the "health and well being of our participants is our utmost concern", says the report.

Darby, 25, is among the ABC Network at-home participants in the new series, all of whom are trying to lose weight as part of the show.

The definition of obesity? When the weight exceeds 120% of the median weight for height. Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy and/or increased health problems.
