Run it Up the Flagpole to See if Anyone Salutes Day, Today!
by Jim Brogan

First it was Festivus, and now it's "Run it Up the Flagpole to See if Anyone Salutes Day', according to timekeepers.

Today considered a cliche expression, in the 1950s and 60s, the 'flagpole' hyperbole was once considered a cool way to say 'let's present an idea and see if anyone reacts'.

Now, much like "the whole ball of wax" and "let's throw it up against the wall and see if anything sticks", the flagpole saying has gone by the wayside.

But today, January 2, has been declared 'Run it up the Flagpole' day, so it's your day to be creative, try and test new ideas and concepts, and not limit the ideas to work or business. In your personal life, try out a new dress or clothing style, perhaps a different haircut.

More weird holidays to come in January? January 4 is Trivia day and January 25 is Opposite Day! January is also 'National Oatmeal Month' and 'Hot Tea Month'.

Added to all this, 2012 is a leap year rife with doomsday prophecies.
