Canada's Most Dangerous City and Safest City
by Mike Baron

The city of Prince George in northern British Columbia was named Canada's most dangerous city twice in a row by Maclean's Magazine back in December. The contest for 'Safest City in Canada', however, is a bit tighter.

The city, which is at the heart of Highway 16, is well-known for having high gang activity.
Highway 16 has also been named the 'Highway of Tears' due to a string of disappearances of women hitchhikers. Most of the cases were never solved.

Prince George being named the 'most dangerous' city in Canada is based mainly on population and crime statistics from the year of 2010. The city had seven homicides, four aggravated sexual assaults, and 343 other assaults.

As for Canada's safest city, there is no clear winner in this case. Quebec City, Ottata-Hull, and London all boast low crime-rates and low child poverty rates. With family friendly festivals, good health care, and child safety programs, any of these cities are a great place for a family. (c) tPC
