Just a week after her ex-husband Nick Lachey announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo, Jessica Simpson also has big news.

  She was proposed to with a unique ruby engagement ring.

The 3-carat centre stone is flanked by diamonds on either side.  The diamonds are set in platinum to maximise the brilliance of the diamonds.

The engagement ring is estimated to be worth $85,000 and has extra meaning for Jessica as ruby is her birthstone.
