At least one prisoner has been killed and 30 stabbed or injured in a prison riot that broke out Wednesday morning in the Preston E. Smith Unit in Lamesa, Texas prison.
The riot broke out around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night, according to a representative at the Lamesa Police Department. The riot was under control by Wednesday morning.
CNN reports: Several inmates were taken to the University Medical Center in Lubbock where they were treated for minor to serious injuries, said Terry Martin, the house supervisor. At least one inmate was released from the hospital after treatment.
