EDINBURGH, Scotland - May 31, 2006 (UPI) -- Authorities in Scotland, fearing metal contamination, have recalled about 35,000 loaves of Mother's Pride and Tesco's plain bread.
The metal fragments could cause internal damage if ingested, reports the Scotsman. The report said the contamination may have occurred because of a mechanical failure at a bakery.
The loaves affected are Mother's Pride Scottish Plain Batch Bread, 800g Medium Cut, and Tesco Scottish Plain Batch Bread, 800g.
Customers who think they may have bought an affected loaf are being asked to return it to any Tesco store or to phone the Mother's Pride helpline on 020 7255 5483.
