Linda Carty and Baby Found Unharmed
by Staff

The Supreme Court has declined to review the case of a death row British woman in Texas for killing a young mother.

On Monday, the justices rejected an appeal from convicted murderer and kidnapper Linda Carty. Carty has complained that her trial lawyers were deficient.

The U.K. government and human rights outlets have assisted Carty's cause.

Carty is among 10 condemned women in Texas. A former teacher from St. Kitts in the British Virgin Islands, Carty was sentenced to death in 2002 for the kidnapping a woman and her baby, and the murder of the mother.

In May 2001, three men broke into the house of Linda’s neighbour, 25 year old Joana Rodriguez. After demanding drugs and money they assaulted her partner, before kidnapping Joana and her four day old baby. The baby was later found unharmed in a car but Joana’s body was discovered in the boot of another car, bound and suffocated.

After the three men who perpetrated the crime were arrested by police, they claimed Linda masterminded the murder.

According to prosecutors, Carty drew-up the kidnapping so she could pretend to be the child's mother in an attempt to save the crumbling relationship with her boyfriend. Video is below. Comment in the blog here.
