The male mice use their singing voices to attract and seduce female mice to mate with them. If the female mouse likes the singing they will mate.
Scientists using digital audio software examined the durations, pitches, and frequencies to see just how complex the songs are. The squeaks that you hear from these mice are a lot more precise than previously thought.
The National Geographic News reported, "For instance, when slowed down, the males' sounds sound strikingly like those of birds. In some bird species, the males with the most complex sounds are most alluring-which means it's possible male mice also use these so-called "sexy syllables" to snag mates, according to a statement."
