Red Bull false ad settlement; doesn't "give you wings" [VIDEO], The phrase "Red Bull gives you wings" has resulted in a false advertising Red Bull settlement. Red Bull has agreed to pay more than $13 million to settle a lawsuit that was seeking class-action status to settle claims of false advertising.

The suit centers around Red Bull's excessive and inaccurate claims of effectiveness in terms of actually giving people energy. The slogan was attempted to imply was that it was a more effective source of caffeine than an average cup of coffee. This has actually bee proven false.

A 7-ounce cup of drip coffee, on average, contains approximately 115 to 175 milligrams of caffeine, while an 8.4-ounce can of Red Bull contains only 80 milligrams of caffeine.

In response to the settlement news, the brand said in a statement:

"Red Bull settled the lawsuit to avoid the cost and distraction of litigation. However, Red Bull maintains that its marketing and labeling have always been truthful and accurate, and denies any and all wrongdoing or liability."

The company has agreed to withdraw and change its marketing claims as a result as well, despite denying any wrongdoing.
