Cate first met Andrew in 1996 when she was in Chekov's The Seagull. "He thought I was aloof and I thought he was arrogant. It just shows you how wrong you can be. But once he kissed me that was that."

Cate and Andrew were married on December 29, 1997 in the Blue Mountains National Park of New South Wales, Australia.
