by Staff

Miramax Films has acquired North American rights to director Scott Hicks' drama "The Boys Are Back," starring Clive Owen.

In Allan Cubitt's adaptation of Simon Carr's seriocomic novel "The Boys Are Back in Town," Owen plays a widower struggling to raise his two sons. Laura Fraser and Emma Booth also star.

The studio also picked up Western European rights to the film, excluding Spain.

Hicks has directed the features "Shine," "Snow Falling on Cedars," "Hearts in Atlantis" and "No Reservations," among others.
