Each side is now painting a different picture about why Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey broke up. Simpson's camp has told People magazine that she was fed up with her husband's partying.
Lachey's people said that Simpson surprised him in the car after they had dinner with friends.
Lachey reportedly asked, "Isn't this worth fixing?" -- and she reportedly answered, "No."
The one thing that is not being disputed is the fact that Nick Lachey is going to make out like a bandit.
Nick and Jessica's assets include their $3 million "Newlyweds" home in Calabasas, Calif., a $1.25 million Las Vegas condo, matching black $84,000 BMWs, a $75,000 Land Rover and Nick's $785,000 Ferrari, according to Extra.
Jessica has reportedly made an estimated $35 million this year, some of which came from her cosmetics and clothing line.
Several publications put the couple's joint worth at around $50 million, and under California law, Lachey would be entitled to half of whatever the couple made after their marriage, unless they reach a settlement.
Jessica reportedly earned a cool $850,000 last Monday (Dec. 5) by performing at Cincinnati's Music Hall for employees of Great American Insurance. Since Jessica refused to sign a prenup, Nick is entitled to half of what she earned at the concert.
People magazine honored Lachey and Simpson in its list of "The 50 Most Beautiful People in the World 2004."
