NASHVILLE, May 12, 2006 (UPI) -- Country music's first couple, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, Friday announced their July 5 concert in New Orleans would be a hurricane relief benefit.
Mississippi native Hill and her Louisiana-raised husband will give the proceeds from their "Soul2Soul II" concert at the New Orleans Arena to their Neighbor's Keeper Foundation and other groups helping Gulf Coast residents still struggling in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, People magazine reported.
"We will not stop, we will not forget, we will not quit, until we see our friends, our families and our neighbors returned to the lives that they once knew," the pair said in a statement.
The couple has participated in a variety of hurricane relief efforts and in March, the usually laid-back and apolitical McGraw openly criticized President Bush for failing to hold anyone accountable for the government's botched response to the disaster.
"To me, there's a lot of politics being played and a lot of people trying to put people in bad positions to further their agendas," he told ABC News.
