Nick Lachey is busy working on his new album, according to Launch Yahoo.com, which could obviously be a way for him to keep his mind off of his upcoming divorce from soon to be ex wife Jessica Simpson.
A source close to Lachey tells OK!, "He has been focusing on work the last couple of weeks, and it's a difficult time, but you have to get on with your life and move on, so that's what he's doing." A spokesperson for Lachey's record label confirms, "Nick is in the studio recording, and we are looking forward to a 2006 release."
The Cincinnati Enquirer said earlier this month that Lachey said that the still-untitled album will lean more towards a rock feel rather than having the op feel of his 2003 debut album, Soul-O.
That album reportedly sold over 100,000 copies.
Nick's soon to be ex's 2003 album, In This Skin, sold over three million copies so far.
Lachey says that MTV has been filming him "on and off" for a new reality show that was supposed to come out in the summer.
According to Launch Yahoo, the re-scheduled premiere date will be based on the date of the album's release.
The former 98 degrees band member is also working on a sitcom pilot for the WB that he expects to be completed in the spring.
Jessica Simpson Has A New Boy Toy
Jessica has been linked in reports to Trace Ayala, 25, Justin Timberlake's business partner in the William Rast clothing line, who she's been spotted cozying up to in L.A. since mid-November, according to the Bosh.
A rep for Simpson insists that Ayala, who recently split with fiancée and 24 actress Elisha Cuthbert, 23, is close friends with Jess' best friend and assistant CaCee Cobb.
"That's a complete hoax," a Simpson source tells Star. "I think Trace is hanging around Jess because he wants to be her boyfriend," the source says.
"But Jessica told Trace she can't date him 'publicly' for at least six months."
