LONDON, July 13, 2006 (UPI) -- Rocker Pete Doherty announced in court that he will get an implant within the next two weeks to help him stop his addiction to drugs.
The Babyshambles singer represented himself at Thames Magistrates Court in east London during his latest review of treatment for addiction to crack cocaine and heroin, Britain's Sky News reported Thursday.
The 27-year-old showed up more than two hours late for the hearing, looking tired and disheveled, said Sky News.
District Judge Jane McIvor said that even though Doherty has impressed his doctors with his progress she is still waiting for his first negative test result, but she did recommend that he only be drug tested once a week, rather than twice a week, the Sky News report said.
"You are going in the right direction. It's not easy, especially in your circumstances. I appreciate that entirely," she said.
