Pseudo punk singer Avril Lavigne is finally growing out of her tomboy stage, at the ripe age of 21. In the new issue of Bazaar magazine the singer dons demure, ladylike outfits in a couture photo shoot. And you know what? Its 100% believable on her.
Who knew there was such a beautiful girl behind the scowls and heavy eyeliner? She tells the magazine, "I'm starting to feel more feminine. I'm getting into hair and makeup and image. That's the best part of being a girl." Well, yes it is, and we could have told her that years ago. But back in the day (which was actually only about 3 years ago) Avril probably would have preferred to stomp on girly girls with her lace up boots before dressing like one. She was infamous for slamming pop singers such as Hilary Duff and Britney Spears for the way they dressed and acted; and of course, for her own publicity.
I'm really liking this new, more mature looking Avril, and I hope her attitude follows suit. I just wonder where her music career will go from here? Will she attempt to sing angsty punk music while wearing a knee length pencil skirt and silk blouse? It seems like Avril is at a crossroads in her career, and is taking time away from music to focus on her first big screen acting role in the upcoming thriller Fast Food Nation.
But what about her fans? Chances are, many of them will be quite upset about her new image, and consider her a "sell out". Perhaps they're right. But don't worry, they'll grow up too.
