Van Halen Explains Tour Cancellation
by Staff

Father and son rockers Eddie and Wolfgang Van Halen admit they cut short their North American concert tour because they were overwhelmed.

More than 30 concert dates after the group's June 26 gig in New Orleans were canceled last month, but no reason was given at the time.

The band is on tour to support "A Different Kind of Truth," its first complete album recorded with original lead singer David Lee Roth since "1984" was released in 1983.

"We bit off more than we could chew," the elder Van Halen told USA Today this week. "This record took a lot out of us. And we went on tour earlier than we wanted to so we could play Madison Square Garden (in March, before a renovation), and that threw the schedule out of whack.

"So in November, we'll hit Japan, and in the new year, we'll possibly do something special, but I can't talk about it," Eddie Van Halen said. (c) UPI
