Dejected Jessica Simpson Wants Privacy

It looks like Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey want some privacy but not for what you might think. Simpson reportedly asked the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday to remove the judge assigned to her pending divorce from Lachey, TV's Extra reported.
The move by Simpson's legal team is viewed as the first step toward having the case heard by a private judge.
As we reported earlier: Attorneys for pop star/actress Jessica Simpson have asked the Los Angeles judge in her divorce from Nick Lachey to step down, according to UPI.
In the court papers filed Wednesday by Simpson's legal team, they cite the fact that Judge Michael P. Linfield could be "prejudiced" against her in the case, TV's "Extra" reported.
However, a source reportedly told People magazine Thursday that the move was merely a technical one, since the couple are seeking to have their case heard by a private judge.
"The goal is to have a private judge because both sides want this to be amicable and private," the source said.
Citing sources "connected with the case," TMZ.com said both the Simpson and Lachey camps want their split kept off the public docket.
Private judges, typically retired courtroom judges, are usually compensated by both of the involved parties.
Simpson, 25, and Lachey, 32, have considerable assets that need to be divided. From June 2004 to June 2005 alone, Simpson, the pop singer turned reality TV phenomenon turned Dukes of Hazzard film star, made a cool $8 million, according to Forbes. Lachey, did not make the money magazine's power rankings.
Sources say Jessica has been feeling very depressed over the whole affair. Miu von Furstenberg has pictures of the glum beauty queen.
Cheer up Jess, it can only get better.
