No Spousal Support For Lachey Says Jessica Simpson
by Toshiba Reynolds
Apr 17, 2006

The buxom blond bombshell is demanding the court not award Lachey a cent of "spousal support" and is asking for time to gather and count their assets -- separately.

The filing at L.A. Superior Court puts a knife in recent speculation of a possible reconciliation between the famous couple.

"Nick is prepared for it to get ugly," a source close to Lachey told Us Weekly recently. "But that's certainly not what he wants."

The first reports of their split were in US Weekly on Oct. 17 2005.

The handsome couple were married in October 2002 and went on to star in their own hit reality TV show, "Newlyweds," on MTV. The show featured Simpson's unintentional humor, like confusing Chicken of the Sea tuna with poultry -- and it made them A-list celebrities.

"The Nick & Jessica Variety Hour," their 2004 ABC television special, earned the couple high ratings.

Earlier in the year, the photogenic couple toured with the USO to entertain troops serving in the Persian Gulf. They also sung "America the Beautiful" before the National Football League's nine regular-season opening games as part of a tribute by the league to mark the fourth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, according to published reports.

People magazine honored Lachey and Simpson in its list of "The 50 Most Beautiful People in the World 2004."
