Reverend Billy and The Stop Shopping Choir published an online interactive
map (http://www.revbilly.com/maps) to warn citizens
of the dangers of carcinogenic glyphosate in parks and playgrounds in New York
City, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Philadelphia and California school yards
and ballfields. The next phase of national mapping includes Los Angeles, Des
Moines, Pittsburgh, Miami, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Omaha, Houston, Dallas, Phoenix,
Denver, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Cleveland and Cincinnati. The maps have been
viewed nearly 100,000 times. Data was acquired through Freedom of Information
Monsanto's RoundUp and its key ingredient glyphosate, are major weapons in the nation's arsenal of herbicides. Meanwhile, scientific evidence that glyphosate is toxic is approaching the level of scientific consensus. The map helps parents avoid exposing their children to Monsanto's toxic glyphosate. It also exposes the extensive use of the deadly chemical by governments across the country.
The World Health Organization says glyphosate is a probable carcinogen.
Scientific studies have found glyphosate to cause non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and
other cancers, birth defects, and celiac disease, allergies, asthma, chronic
fatigue syndrome. Glyphosate is persistent in body tissue, blood and breast milk
in humans. The non-profit organization, Moms Across America, finds exposure to
RoundUp has cause pregnancy problems, including stillbirths.
