Cyndi Lauper Opens Homeless Shelter In NYC For LGBT Youth - No Straight People
by Tashi Singh

Pop star Cyndi Lauper has opened a shelter for the homeless LGBT youth. The "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" singer's shelter will open in Manhattan on September 1st.

The 30-bed housing facility is for homeless lesbians, bisexuals, gays, and transgendered youth. So if you are straight, it doesn't sound like you are welcome to come in.

The facility is called "The True Colors residence," which is named after her 1986 hit singer 'True Colors. The building is located on West 154th St. near Frederick Douglass Blvd. in Harlem.

Lauper decided to open "True Colors" after a study came out saying 40 percent of homeless youth in the city identify as Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Transsexuals. (c) tPC
