David Kernell Photo: Rep. Mike Kernell Son Sarah Palin Anonymous Hacker?
by Mike Baron

Pictures of David Kernell, the son of democratic state representative from Tennessee Mike Kernell, have surfaced online.

20-year-old David Kernell is at the center of an online investigation into who broke in to the email account of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and posted some of the contents to Wikileaks.

According to a report from The Tennessean, representative Mike Kernell told a reporter that his son, David, is the individual believed to be among those reponsible for the hacked account.

According to the newspaper, David Kernell is a student at University of Tennessee-Knoxville. The FBI and Secret Service have yet to publicly identify David Kernell as a suspect.

There are reports of a person claiming to be the hacker posting online that he intended to get into Palin's e-mail account and he says he was looking for dirt to bring her down.

The story follows a first-person account that was briefly posted to the 4chan website by someone going by the name Rubico. This person was quickly linked to an email address belonging to David Kernell, but until now, that connection had not been confirmed.

The hacker claimed that he "tricked" Yahoo's e-mail service into assigning a new password for Palin's e-mail account and that is how he supposedly gained access to the account.

Investigators were waiting to speak with Gabriel Ramuglia of Athens, Ga., who operates an Internet anonymity service used by the hacker. Ramuglia told the AP on Thursday he was reviewing his own logs and promised to turn over any helpful information to authorities.
