Court records in Colorado show the trial for Swinton, 34, on a charge unrelated to the Texas raid was vacated and rescheduled to begin Aug. 31. Swinton has been charged with a misdemeanor count of false reporting. She is accused of pretending to be a sexually abused teenage girl who was chained in a Colorado Springs basement.
Authorities in Texas have said repeatedly that Swinton is a "person of interest" in their investigation into the phone call that ignited the raid on the YFZ last year. Someone pretending to be a pregnant 16-year-old named "Sarah" called a family crisis hotline in San Angelo, Texas. She claimed to be trapped in an abusive, polygamous marriage.
In related news, the first of 12 men indicted on charges related to underage marriage headed to trial Monday in Eldorado, Texas. Raymond Jessop is charged with bigamy and sexual assault of a child; Jessop faces up to 20 years in prison.
