Marie Ndiaye, a French author, has won the Prix goncourt. The Prix Goncourt is France's top literary award. Her novel called "Trois Femmes Puissantes" won her the award.
Ndiaye is the first woman to win the Prix Goncourt it since 1998. Her novel "Trois Femmes Puissantes" is about the lives of three women and how they connect between France and Senegal.
The prize isn't worth too much. About $15 in North America, but it is a great publicity agent for her and her books. It's more of a prestige prize than anything else.
NDiaye commented to Reuters "This gives me great pleasure and I am also very happy to be a woman receiving the Goncourt Prize." NDiaye is 42 years old and began writing when she was 12. (c) tPC
