Mistakes last forever, but should a prison sentence do so as well? Meet Joe Harris Sullivan, he was condemned to a life sentence at the age of 13-years-old after raping an elderly woman. Now 33-years-old he is fighting his prison sentence calling it cruel an unusual punishment.
In Florida law, judges can condemn juveniles to life without parole. Sullivan, although very young, has been in jail or in a juvenile detention center sine he was 13-years-old. Is it fair that at such a young age a sentence like "life with-out parole" be allowed?
That's exactly what is being reviewed by Supreme Court justices. Sullivan along with another man named Terrance Graham, will have their attorney's present their case to get freed from jail.
Terrance Graham, 22, a few years ago was a juvenile who was arrested after committing armed robbery on probation. He had been sentence to life without parole.
Each case will be heard and there is talk of banning the judgment on Juveniles getting life without parole. (c) tPC
