Pop babe Jessica Simpson's manager-dad Joe has rubbished claims he spied on Jessica's ex-husband singer/actor Nick Lachey before the couple divorced early last month.
The New York Daily News reported that a source claimed the over-protective father was desperate to keep an eye on Lachey in the seven months separation before the split was finalized in court.
Joe Simpson allegedly even bullied a club honcho to grant access to security videotapes on evenings Lachey had patronized their establishments with a chick in tow.
The source dishes, "Joe was looking to incriminate Nick. He told the club, 'If you ever want to see my daughter there, you'll give me what I want.'"
Simpson family reps have dismissed the story as totally absurd.
