Discovery Communications Inc. is launching a television network called 'Velocity' that could earn them big bucks, because the network is geared towards rich men and their toys.
There is a new network coming to the millions of televisions currently receiving HD Theater, and the network could earn Discovery big bucks from advertisers who are willing to pay top dollar to reach rich audiences. The network is called Velocity and is set to debut on Sept. 25. Oh, and it is geared towards rich men who make at least $150K per year.
David Zaslav, president and CEO of Discovery Communications, is excited about the launch and explains why they chose Velocity: "We just felt like this was a space missing in the marketplace."
Shows that will be on Velocity include, "Chasing Classic Cars," "Cafe Racer" and "Mecum Auto Auctions." After all, men and cars go together like peanut butter and jelly!
"Culturally, cars are so important for us guys in America," Zaslav said in a recent interview. "We grew up dreaming about what the day would be like when we got our licenses and what cars we would drive."
Finally, a network for men with some jingle in their pockets!
