by Staff

New York Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson suffered minor injuries in two-car weekend crash, authorities said Monday.

A spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said Wilkerson flipped his 2011 Dodge Challenger on the Garden State Parkway early Saturday morning after rear-ending another car, the New York Post reported.

The 2011 first-round Jets draft pick was trapped beneath the vehicle but extricated himself before state troopers arrived and was taken to University Hospital in Newark, N.J., the state police spokesman said.

He was treated with stitches to his forearm and ticketed for careless driving and failure to maintain a lane.

The Jets lineman played in a 16 games last season, making 49 tackles and three sacks. (c) UPI
