DISTURBING VIDEO of fan hit in head at PNC Park, A Pittsburgh Pirates fan was hit in the head with a foul ball Monday night.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was standing in the first row behind home plate with her back toward the field when Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro fouled a ball straight back against the protective screen with such force that it struck the fan.

The woman immediately collapsed and the game was delayed before paramedics escorted her out of the stadium on a stretcher.

Reports indicate the woman was conscious and a friend next to her gave the crowd a thumbs up.

After initial treatment by PNC Park and Pittsburgh EMS personnel, the woman was placed on a gurney, moved to a nearby ambulance and brought to the hospital for further treatment.

The Pirates announced Tuesday that the woman had been released from the hospital after being examined by medical professionals.
