German Police Seek Runaway Kangaroo
by Staff

German police said a privately owned kangaroo managed to elude capture when four officers tracked him to a local lawn.

Police in the village of Hulshagen responded about 6 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a kangaroo wandering the neighborhood and four officers arrived to find Bernhard, a kangaroo owned by a resident of a nearby village, sitting on a lawn, The Local.de reported Wednesday.

The officers attempted to corner the 3-foot-tall marsupial, but it managed to flee into some fields and lose its pursuers.

Police said Bernhard, who escaped from an enclosure with 6-foot fences, is not believed to pose a danger to the public, but the animal is not expected to return home on its own. (c) UPI
