Dead man's hand [PHOTO/VIDEO]: Man posed to play poker at his own wake. Henry Rosario Martinez, a 31-year-old Puerto Rican poker fan, died recently and participated in his hobby one last time after his body was seated at a card table for his wake.
The family of Martinez, 31, contacted the Eternal Light Funeral Home in Barceloneta after his passing in January and requested that his remains be embalmed, dressed and seated at a poker table while his wake took place.
Martinez's wake not only featured poker games with his 'participation' but also included candid moments with friends and family posing for pictures with the deceased.
"I want him to be remembered as a happy person because he was always like that," mom Sonia Martinez told Primera Hora.
Apparently wakes that include the remains of loved ones arranged in lifelike poses have increased in popularity in Puerto Rico. It's actually starting to become quite common. Some recent examples being a man posed at a table playing dominoes and a paramedic posed in the back of an ambulance.
Could this become a common practice in the U.S.? If I were not going to be cremated I think I would have already begun to think of some creative ways to have my remains posed for my wake.
